SG115 Coast Guard Boat

Approx. 18–30 m

A former coast guard boat sunk in 2007 to create an artificial reef near Black Island.

DEPTH: Approx. 18–30 m
SEABED / STRUCTURE: Metal hull on sand with a rocky area nearby.
MARINE LIFE: Groupers, moray eels, octopus and occasionally amberjack; small life on the deck.

The outside of the 29 m former coast guard boat, its deck and adjacent rocks.

Pınar 1 Water Tanker

Approx. 18–33 m

This 37-metre former Turkish Navy water tanker rests as an artificial reef between Delikli Cave and Poyraz Bay.

DEPTH: Approx. 18–33 m
SEABED / STRUCTURE: Tanker hull on sand; shallower rock formations on the return.
MARINE LIFE: Octopus, moray eels, groupers, squid eggs and invasive lionfish may appear.

The tanker silhouette, outer deck and bridge, plus life on nearby rocks.

C-47 Dakota Aircraft

Sections reported at approx. 16–33 m

The former Turkish Air Force C-47 Dakota was sunk as an artificial reef near Paçoz Bay on Black Island.

DEPTH: Sections reported at approx. 16–33 m
SEABED / STRUCTURE: Rock and sand near Paçoz; aircraft sections separated and shifted in 2010.
MARINE LIFE: Small fish and groupers may be seen around the wreck; sightings vary by season.

Big Reef

Top approx. 7 m · base approx. 35 m

A large underwater rocky pinnacle between Bodrum and Black Island, with a shallow top and deeper faces.

HISTORY: Natural reef · between Bodrum and Black Island
DEPTH: Top approx. 7 m · base approx. 35 m
SEABED / STRUCTURE: Rock pinnacle with a steeper Black Island face and gentler shoreward side.
MARINE LIFE: Seabream, octopus and scorpionfish; deeper down, grouper, moray, dentex or amberjack may appear.

LOOK FOR

Shallow summit, sloping faces and a lively wall.

Small Reef

Top approx. 5–6 m · walls reach 28–30 m

The smaller nearby rocky pinnacle, with a shallow summit and three descending walls.

DEPTH: Top approx. 5–6 m · walls reach 28–30 m
SEABED / STRUCTURE: Shallow rock summit with three distinct descending walls.
MARINE LIFE: Moray eels, octopus, nudibranchs and occasionally amberjack or barracuda.
